Hoji-genmaicha is a unique Japanese tea that combines roasted hojicha tea and roasted genmai rice. This rare composition is inspired by genmaicha tea, which is traditionally made from unroasted green tea. Production process<\/b><\/p>\n

To extract the intense flavour and reduce the caffeine content, hojicha is made from second-picked green tea leaves and stems, which are roasted at high temperatures. Genmai is unpolished Japanese brown rice which is steamed and roasted to give it a special crispness and aroma. <\/span><\/p>\n

The process of making hojicha-genmaicha starts with the roasting of the hojicha tea leaves, during which they lose some of their green tea qualities and acquire nutty and caramel flavour notes.
