This dark, unglazed shiboridashi teapot is authentic. A Japanese tea pot made in Kyoto, one of the most important centres of Japanese ceramic and tea culture. Shiboridashi is a small container with a lid, traditionally used for the preparation of premium Japanese teas, especially sencha and gyokuro, but also kukicha and hojicha. Thanks to its small capacity (120 ml) and thin ceramic layer, it allows for precise temperature control, while the warm – not boiling – water brings out the delicate flavours of these teas.

The unglazed surface gives shiboridashi the naturalness and aesthetic serenity of the Japanese wabi-sabi philosophy. The dark colour of the clay brings out the shades of the tea and gives the ritual a cosy, meditative feel. The handleless design allows the teapot to be held with both hands. The shape of the lid naturally retains the leaves when pouring, one of the distinctive features of shiboridashi.

Made in Kyoto, a region famous for its deep ceramic tradition. This dark shiboridashi teapot is not only a functional tool, but also an aesthetic, masterfully crafted object. It is perfect for those who appreciate the slow process of making tea and want to experience Japanese tea culture in the most authentic way.
