A teapot for making gyokuro and sencha teas. The shades and patterns of the dishes are naturally formed by the fire absorbing the base of the dish during firing, leaving the black shades. The tea bowls represent the Shigaraki style of pottery. Shigaraki is one of the six ancient pottery centres in Japan, where the craftsmanship of tea vessels dates back to the tea ceremony. The clay used in Shigaraki comes from the bottom of Lake Biwa in North Kyoto. The specific characteristics of clay and its firing often result in vessels with more robust shapes and coarser textures. The inside of the pot is glazed for easy cleaning and the white colour allows you to see the colour of the tea better.
